Dc++

Ever since I installed bitdefender v10 all my dc++ type programs run only in passive mode

I would like to know if there is someone else with this problem and if it can be fixed (I want active mode to work)

Norton and ZoneAlarme do not give me this problem.

I have Xp profesional sp2, no router

I gave the Dc++ program rights to de everything (from the firewall ) and still no luck

Please help :unsure:

  • Hello baubaum,

    Go to Firewall -> Traffic -> Edit Profile. There, in both Inbound and Outbound lists, find the rule(s) for your DC++ client(s) and move them to the top of both lists. This should work just fine. :)

    Please post if it solves the problem.

    The explanation is very simple (and was posted on this forum many times).

    The list of Firewall rules is created based on rules' priority. The higher the position in the list, the higher the priority. This means that if a rule is made, that blocks certain ports/IPs (for one application, or for all applications), that restriction will be applied to all rules that are positioned below (but not to the rules from above)

    By default, DC++ clients use ports that are blocked by BD firewall (because they are considered somehow dangerous). Moving the rules for the DC++ clients on the top of the lists gives them the highest priority, so the DC++ clients will have access to whatever ports they need (but also, the other applications are restricted, so the overall security isn't very much decreased).

    Anyway, you're welcome. If you have other questions, don't hesitate to post.

    Happy New Year,

    Cris. :)
