After my client's Bitdefender v10 expired he decided to upgrade to v2008. What a huge mistake. (Client PC, Win 2K SP4)
First I uninstalled v10, no big deal. I install v2008, restart the pc and endless errors appear. The drivers for the two network boards installed would no longer load. In the device manager both boards had the yellow circle with the exclamation point.
So, I uninstall v2008, no big deal. WRONG! After uninstalling the software the drivers for the two network boards still would not load.
I call Support, the first thing they have me do is download an Uninstall program that supposedly cleans up the mess they left behind. Why couldn't they get it right the first time? I write software, I know every file, registry setting and other settings I made so I can put it back the way it was before the install. It's not hard, it's just paying attention.
I run the uninstall program. NO, drivers still will not load. All they could do is suggest the most basic steps that even a novice would have thought of themselves. I've been in the computer industry for over twenty years and have never encountered such useless support. I've had clueless people from India that were at least willing to help or escalate to a higher tier of support.
After suggesting everything I've already tried, instead of trying to figure it out, they said it was Microsoft's problem.
They wiped their hands clean and have refused to contacted me again.
A pc that was running fine for years that suddenly no longer functions properly after installing their software and it's Microsoft's problem?
Huh?
I really didn't want to reinstall Windows, so after several hours of losing my mind, I was able to fix it.
Thanks for nothing, Bitdefender.
