Unhappy Customer

I play City of Heroes. A lot.

But, since I installed Bit Defender Antivirus Plus 2013, my game gets hung up on the loading screen.

City of Heroes:Freedom is an MMO. ( A free one - so anyone can download a copy of that game and see if they are able to get to log in with BD2013. )

I should have just gotten the free trial, or gone with a brand that I'd heard of before - but this one was rated higher. But, if I have to install it, and uninstall it every day before and after I play, that's more than just a little ridiculous.

So, if anyone has a solution that doesn't require me to rewrite the names of files or dig around my registry, let me know please. (I strongly feel if I can't make a change under some option settings to allow the game to play, then they really should refund my money. )

I'm not going to do any of that. If your program won't work with my program as is, give me a refund and I'll get one of the other anti-virus protection services that do work with it. All those hoops, I may as well just wait until I get a virus before I do anything.

Two of my sons play this, it works fine on their systems with BD2013. Do you have Automatic Game Mode on and while playing, do you also try to enable it on the task bar item for BitDefender?

I have gotten my game to load, and am able to play it -- but now, I get random blue screens of death. I run Whocrashed reports after I reboot the system and this is the error message I get :

Bug check description: This indicates that a pool header is corrupt.

This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.

The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

Now, when I click on BAD_POOL_HEADER, I get this feedback:

"That could be drivers although antivirus/antispyware/security programs and other hardware

are also probable causes. Updating the major drivers and BIOS would be the best plan of

attack. If needed also try uninstalling your antivirus/security as a test."

Essentially, when I had Bitdefender installed, I had 9 BSOD errors; when I have it uninstalled, I don't have any. <shrug>

Inferior product, if you ask me.

As you can see from the dump, the issue is caused by critical file from the operating system.

Did you scanned the PC after the reinstall process?
