[resolved] Kaspersky Blocks Installation

So I bought a new laptop today and it had a trial installed of Kaspersky. I used CCleaner to remove it and I tried installing Bitdefender 2013 Internet security. After unpacking the files it said: Bitdefender 2013 cannot automatically uninstall Kaspersky... etc

I enabled the option to see hidden folders and I deleted a Kaspersky map in ProgramData, I searched trough my program files aswell but I couldn't find any Kaspersky related folders anymore. I tried to reboot, but still the same problem.

I tried what was listed there, but still no succes. Help?

It sound like you know what you're doing, and have done your research, so forgive me if you have already tried this, as you suggested in your post.

Did you run the Kaspersky Uninstall tool? I know from the other post there was a list of all the uninstall tools, but let's go directly to the Kaspersky 2012 (I'm assuming it was the 2012 version?) link: http://support.kaspersky.com/faq?print=tru...p;qid=208279463 Reboot the PC

Then run the Bitdefender 2013 Uninstall tool, to clean up our install attempts: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35804 Reboot the PC

Now run CCleaner in Sweep mode, and in Registry mode, deleting any leftover Bitdefender and Kaspersky reg. keys only.

Lets try something,

1) First completely uninstall Kaspersky and Bitdefender from their respective Uninstall tools which you can download from here

2) Then follow the instructions according to your skill level from here

3) Must search manually for “Bitdefender” and "Kaspersky in System Drive, Registry and Windows Device Manager and delete the entries/items/drivers. For Kaspersky, sometimes there is present hidden driver in the Device Manager, which may not be removed by using even its uninstall tool and you should have to locate and remove it manually.

For that go to RUN and type compmgmt.msc and then go to Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices and locate and remove the Kaspersky entry.

4) Sometimes the latest uninstall tool of Kaspersky also fails to remove it completely. Use the previous version of that.

5) Here is the attached Kaspersky.xml file that contain Kaspersky registry entries detected by Bitdefender. Locate and delete them. I copied this file during the Bitdefender installation.
