Downloaded And Nothing
I just finished downloading internet security 2008 to the desktop as suggested. When I click on run I get a pop up that it is not a valid win32 application.
Tried accessing my account, that says no such account so I tried telling it I forgot the password and it says it could not find this user in our data base. That very strange because it just sent an email confirming my purchase. What gives

Hello Pam,
What is your Operating System? And what version of BitDefender did you download (maybe you are trying to install the 64 bit version on a 32 bit OS?).
Secondly... the BitDefender My Account has nothing to do with you purchasing the product. This account may or may not be created, depending on your choice when you register the product (NOT when you buy it, but when you enter the license key, after installation).

Dear Pam,
That is because for some reason the autoexec file is missing in the system 32 folder.
Go to start,my computer, open the windows folder, repair folder select the autoexec file left clicking on it with your mouse once you have done that press the ctrl (control button) together with c now open the system 32 subfolder and press on ctrl + v reboot your pc. That should work.
Best regards

Thanks Cris and Niels for replying, first my OS is win XP. Under the general tab in the small window its titled bitdefender_internetsecurity_2008_64b. Under the version tab its file version 6.0.3790.1830. and the description is Win 32 cabinet self extractor.
I wasn't worried about the account just looking for more info and kept running into the need to sign in. And I am pretty sure your right about the 64 bit version on a 32 bit system.
Niels, I am sorry you have lost me right away. start>my computer easy but windows folder. I am looking and don't find what you mean. Can you be more complete with your instructions. I am a photographer, I will take or fix your photos. But, I am not real technical with the computer on the operational side.

Did you try to download the 32bit version to see if it works?
This is the link for the English version of BD IS 2008: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2008_32b.exe
If you need other language, go here: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...security/final/, choose the language you want, and be sure to download the 32bit 2008 version.

Thank you Cris that was exactly it. I just got ahead of myself and didn't notice that there were two versions.

Dear Pam
You can also receive that error message when that specific file is missing. But you will also receive that message when you are trying to install or run an installer that is made for 64 bit versions of operating systems. All what you have to do is to open in other words double clicking on the icon of your hard disc which is mostly called c: than you will find the folder called windows. Good to hear that your problem is solved.
Best regards
