Firewall Blocks Communication With Work Network

I am running Win 7 64-bit.

I am having problems with the firewall that came with BitDefender. I used to be able to access the network servers at work with no problem until I installed BitDefender. I have applied the recommended settings for the firewall (Home/Office, Stealth off, Generic on). The network folders are still not "recognized" by my OS.

The only two settings that I have figured out that will allow me to access my work network servers is if 1) I turned the firewall off or 2) Switch the adapter setting from Home/Office to Trusted.

My questions are: 1) Does trusted mode make me vulnerable? and 2) How can I ensure that my work network connections are accessible using Home/Office?

    Hi sebastiancanes,

A product update was recently released. Your build should be 16.27.0.1763 (please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Changelog:

Let me know if the situation is solved afterwards.

    Have a nice day! :)

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, even with this update I am still encountering the same problem. I have to keep the firewall settings as "Trusted" for my network at work for me to be able to access the server folders. Switching it to "Home/Office" blocks communication.

    Hello,

Did you try to make the changes explained in this pinned topic?

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=39492

If you did and the issue persists, temporarily enable Paranoid mode (Settings > Firewall > Settings tab > Alert intensity). Restart your PC, and try to access the network servers. You will notice some firewall permission alerts. Please choose Allow until you are able to successfully open the folders you need.

When you are done you can switch off Paranoid Mode.

Let me know how is everything going.

    Georgia,

It worked for the folders which I know the IP address (i.e. \\[ip address]\folder\name), but it does not work for the folders for which I don't have an IP address for them (i.e. \\[path folder]\folder\name). I have contacted my IT guys at work to see if there is a specific IP address for those folders.

    Thank you,

    Sebastiancanes
