Confused With My Bd Software

Okay,

I have had BitDefender for a while now--maybe eight or ten months. Lately, I've noticed that my computer is starting to wig out on me. I've been taking a look into the virus reports and found this in the last Deep System scan report. The C drive is, obviously, my Hard Drive and the D is my Recovery Drive, but I never come across problems with the regular scan, just with the Deep scan.

This is the report. I do download automatic updates for my HP 3in1 printer and my computer is an HP, but I don't recognize any of the executable files at all.

Lastly, one of the things I found in the list of items that boot up automatically when the computer starts is this thing called "PCDrProfiler" with no file info, publisher info or available description. I don't recognize it and I had read in the anti-vir software info that sometimes viruses can get into those programs that start up initially when the computer boot_s in order to go unnoticed or to just restart with the computer itself.

This might be a so called false positiv. I recommend that you do this :

Go to start,my computer,double click on the icon of the hard disc that have C: as drive letter now go to tools,folder options,display/view check the option show hidden files and folders press on apply. Now you will see a folder called hp open it and open also the subfolder wbug. Now use a tool such as winrar or winzip to archive that file. To do that right click on HPPavillion_Spring06.exe click on add to archive,compression select best,press on ok. Now make a new reply and scroll down till you see the attachments section press on browse and navigate to the directory where you stored your archive press on upload wait till your attachment is uploaded. There is a 2mb file limit. If it's bigger upload it to :

http://www.rapidshare.com/ it works the same press on browse and navigate again to the location of the archive press on upload. Now copy and paste the download link into a text file or word file upload.

Hello Beth,

In addition to what Niels said: before trying to archive that file, disable BD Realtime Protection. If you don't, it will prevent access to that file and you won't be able to archive it. Be sure to re-enable the protection after you archive the file.

How come I'm archiving it and sending it to you? What will that do?

Niels suggested that you upload the file on the forum, not send it to him.

Updateing the file on the forum will help, because the BD Virus Analysts will download it, check it out, and tell you for sure if it is an infection or not (and remove detection, if necessary).

No, BleepingComputer is not a branch of BitDefender. The Forum UI is the same because they use the same forum software. The same software is used by other forums as well, and an example would be forum.softpedia.com
