2008 Virus Scan Appears Locked Up....

BitDefender 2008 running a Full System scan appears to be locked on one file that it can't get past. The application has been running now for 4 hours and 49 minutes and it has only scanned 320 files.

The Status at the top shows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\WINACHSF\ImagePath=>C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\HSF_CNXT.SYS

So what do I do with this? Do I have to add this file to the exceptions list? This is my first time using BitDefender and I am not used to such issues.

Earlier in the day I attempted to run a Deep Scan. When I came back a hour later, there was nothing still running, but no entry in the log either.

I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2 with updates. The driver might be related to my HP Color Laserjet Printer 2600dn although I am not sure about that.

Help!

  • Hello hjs51,

    The driver seems to belong to Conexant SoftK56 Modem. If you have this, then the driver is legit. Otherwise, it might be something suspicious.

    Please upload the file on virustotal.com and see if any AV product detects anything suspicious about it.

    Does it work if you try to scan only that file? Go to that file (with Explorer, or whatever file manager you use), right click on it and scan it with BitDefender.

    If everything comes clean, then yes, you could just add that file to Exceptions and see if it gets passed it. However, I suggest you contact LiveAssistance and tell them about this issue.
