Problems With Hp Wireless Scanning

Greetings, i'm currently trialing Bit Defender for windows 8 (i couldn't find any other forum section so i'm posting here)

I have an HP B210a printer set via wifi connection in my network. When i try to scan a document and although the preview shows up fine, i get an error saying "Scanner is unreachable, Scanner communication cannot be established"

I search the forum for information and all i've done so far is:

*Went to manage adapter and set my network adapter to Trusted, Generic: yes and stealth mode: off

*Checked the application rules for hp processes

*Disabled the firewall to check if the problem go away

Nothing so far has worked though, the only way to make it work is to uninstall bitdefender completely.

Can someone help me out on this one ? My trial expires in 28days and i love the design and the usability of the product, but not being able to scan documents from my wireless printer is a no go.

  • Hello,

    You may try this:

Go to Firewall settings/Adapter rules, then "Add Zones" and "Allow" your printer's IP.

    Perhaps this works for you.

    Hronia polla! :)

I added my printer's ip (192.168.1.3) and selected "Allow" but still, nothing changes :(

  • Hello Spyros,

Unfortunately, I cannot offer you the proper assistance for your issue except from mentioning the latest driver update from HP (2012-10-22 v28.8) for your printer which I believe you already know.

You have to wait for an official response, here or on BD contact page (if you ask for) and after facing the lacking of BD's awful support, you can find another AV solution to make your job.

The good thing is that you wisely first try and not buy the product.

    Regards!

Kindly also check the Trust level of the respective adapter from Windows as well. Did you try to ping it? Can the printer be browsed from RUN by typing its IP Address? Try to re-add the Printer from Wireless device option from the Windows Network, I think.

    Hello,

A product update was recently released. Your build should be 16.27.0.1763 (please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Changelog:

Let me know if the situation is solved afterwards. :)

    Have a nice day!
