Bd Total Security Or Bd Window 8 Security?

Options

Hi BD users.. !

No need to look at my no. of posts.......it's my first post.

But that's not supposed to mean I'm a new BD user. <img class=" />

Now, coming to the topic; I was really curious to know which

BD product would be suitable if I'm using windows 8 final retail version?

I have already bought BD total security 2013 but now I realize another product i.e. BD Windows 8 Security is also available.

I checked on the official website but didn't got any clue about the

difference in those 2 products( on compare products page, comparison is available for just BD basic, Bd Internet Security and BD Total security).

It would be nice if some mod throws some torchlight on the topic.

And if i could use my licence of BD TS2013 with BD w8 security.

Anyways..waiting eagerly for a reply.

    Hello and welcome,

You have to try both versions (trials) and see what's suitable for you. Be careful about installing and uninstalling them : http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...f=312&id=53

As for comparison, BD Win8 Security is exactly the same with BD Internet Security.

Your license doesn't work with BD Win8 Security but you may contact to BD support asking for downgrading it.

    Hi vicky.vsquare,

The key addition to Bitdefender Windows 8 Security is support for Microsoft's new Early Launch Anti-malware (ELAM) feature, which means that the program is launched before other boot drivers and can vet them for safety. This feature is not integrated in other Bitdefender 2013 products. This is why it's better to use Bitdefender Windows 8 Security to protect your Windows 8 system.

As werby3 already mentioned, Bitdefender Windows 8 Security corresponds indeed to Bitdefender Internet Security 2013. Moreover, all the the license keys bought for Bitdefender Windows 8 Security can also be used to register Bitdefender Internet Security 2013.

Please post back if you have other questions or concerns! :)

    Hi Georgia,

does it work vice versa too? May I use BD IS 2013 key to activate BD W8 Security?

@ pawel, if I can step in here ^_^

Yes, that key will work both ways as far as like kind for like kind, BD W8 and 2013 IS. I used a 2013 BD IS key to register my BD W8 version, they are interchangeable within that version.

    :)

Georgia, I'm sorry, but you really need to explain this a little more thoroughly. Please correct me if I'm wrong but as I understand it, even if I have no third party AV software installed, Windows still launches the default Microsoft ELAM driver(s) which will vet the others for safety. It then hands security over to whatever program you have installed, in this case Windows Defender. How does Bitdefender W8 Security improve on this. What is the difference between running BD2014TS with default Microsoft ELAM driver and running BDW8 Security with the BD ELAM driver. And also could you tell me what other features have been 'specifically crafted' for W8. In fairness, I will say that a complete system scan seems to run about 20 to 30 minutes faster than the 2013 product but my Autoscan shows last scan 6 days ago. Finally, I tried to post a feature request for a separate subforum for the BDW8 product, but I was told that I do not have permission to do this.

Hello - well, this thread is a good one since I bought TS2013 thinking it included everything (PCs, Macs, Android, etc) to later learn in a review somewhere there was something called "Sphere" which was hard to find so I googled to find the page for Sphere - then in the process trying to compare the new Windows 8 version with TS2013 - never could find anything that really articulated what I needed to know....

In any case, I bought both TS2013 and Sphere (and for the life of me I couldn't figure out the special pricing to go from TS2013 to Sphere - showed a lower price when I entered my activation code, but when I went to order, it was retail no matter what I tried - bought it at full price -I even said what the heck, and paid for 2-years. )

Then happened on this thread and saw keys are supposedly interchangeable w/Win8 version - yay!

Today I tried using both my TS2013 and Sphere keys when installing BD for Windows 8 - says not a valid key for both I tried. I just bought both w/in the last couple weeks. Now don't tell me I have to buy yet another version.... ? Hopefully, I'm just doing something wrong. I installed the Win8 version and now it's sitting on the screen asking for the key. I've tried the two i have - what am I doing wrong since this thread says I should be able to use the keys.

    Thanks.

    Hello t00r,

Only Bitdefender Internet Security keys will work on Bitdefender Windows 8 Security.

Bitdefender Total Security keys (Sphere) are rejected.

Please let me know if you have other questions about your Bitdefender product. Thank you.

    Hi Georgia!

If Internet Security keys work for Windows 8 Security, why Total Security keys does NOT work for Windows 8 Security?

I do not see logic on this. If I understood well while I've been researching about Bitdefender Products before I bought it, Total Security is a bigger package than Internet Security. So, If I own a Total Security key, it means I have all features of Internet Security, plus some other features. The prices of the packages mean it: Total Security is more expensive than both Internet Security and Windows 8 Security. So, why Internet Security users (nothing against them) can use its keys on Windows 8 Security while Total Security users, that paid more for it, cannot?

Look at my case: One week ago I bought 2 licenses (3PCs each) of Total Security, because I did not know until today that Windows 8 Security even existed. Actually, if you look it now, Windows 8 Security is not exposed on the Brazilian Bitdefender site yet (where I bought my Total Security keys).

If I knew it before, I would have bought Internet Security keys. I would have paid less and now I would be able to use Windows 8 Security. But nobody told me this before (as I said, Brazilian Bitdefender site does not mention Windows 8 Security).

My question is: Is there any way to use my Total Security keys on Windows 8 Security. Or is there any way to exchange my unused (I haven't installed it yet) Total Security keys by Windows 8 Security keys?

Or maybe we could expect Bitdefender will launch other Windows 8 Security product packages, being one of them compatible with Total Security? Today we have Antivirus, Internet and Total packages for 2013 products. Windows 8 Security is equivalent to the Internet Security package. So, will Windows 8 Security have equivalent packages for Antivirus and Total packages also? In this case, can we expect the equivalent product keys will work on the new equivalent Windows 8 packages?

    Hello Georgia,

I hope this isnt too much of a >Bump<

Tho I wonder if it is possible to "Downgrade" ones subscription . . ?

Seems I mistakenly  bought the Total Internet Security package for 3pc's,

Thinking that it was this Premium product that would have Bitdefender Windows 8 Security access, allowing me to use the correct products for my win7 laptop, and my win 8 pc . . .

Any reply would be most helpful, taa
