Do I Need To Upgrade Please?

Hi,

I have had a new laptop for about a week with Windows 8. I have installed Antivirus Plus 2013. Is it advisable to upgrade to Windows 8 Security? If so, will the upgrade cost less than buying W8 Security outright? I only have 93 days left on my current BD installation, so maybe it would be okay to wait until I need to renew anyway? Does anyone have an opinion on this please?

Also, if I stay with what I have, should I turn off Windows Defender? I'm never sure whether Antivirus Plus 2013 has a firewall or not...

At this late stage, I'm not sure what could be worked out upgrade wise. You can wait to see if Christian gives you any options, as you're right, BD 8, is the Suite version.

You're also right in your concern to turn off Windows Defender, as it is a real time scanner, and BD already incorporates a spyware/malware scanner.

Sorry I may not have answered all of your concerns in my above post. Do you "need" to upgrade to Windows 8 (which is the 2013 Suite with all it's features) that may be a personal preference thing depending on the features you're looking for, i.e. Anti Spam, Parental Controls, Firewall, File Shredder. I like the full protection of the Suite on my notebooks. The Bitdefender Window 8 Security has some nice security features for Window 8: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...f=312&id=54

Since you are considering an upgrade, you could contact support here, and see if they would consider adding some of your AV+ days to a Bitdefender Windows 8 purchase, as at this point it may be easier for them to do it that way than pro-rating days left for a discount. They are usually pretty good about trying to work something out, or you can wait here to see what Christian says.

Hi Adam,

I see that you did not contact Bitdefender support at that time and your current Bitdefender Antivirus key is going to be automatically renewed for the same product on April 11, 2013.

Please let me know if you need more information.
