Can't seem to download games using either one...should I change http ftp firewall settings?

You need to open up those ports so the download can proceed.
Unfortunately, individual ports cannot be opened in BD, as Firewall rules, software rules and exceptions have to be applied.
If you're using the Security Suite, or Total Security, have you tried these Firewall settings?
