Pc Freeze When Using Ccleaner

Don't know if this problem is caused by CCleaner or BitDefender. The problem in my case is quite simple but none the less quite annoying. When I use CCleaner to delete my traces, it seems that BitDefender starts scanning the files CCleaner is about to delete. As a result it takes hours for CCleaner to complete, most often the PC freezes comletely.

  • Hi Svenni212000 :)

Please make sure all the options in Windows Defender are off: Auto Scanning/Real Time Protection/Admin/Use this program.

If that helps, good, otherwise you may need to do what I did, as I had CCleaner freeze up (never started a cleaner scan) when I used its (CCleaner) Secure file deletion options. When I had it set to normal, CCleaner would scan without issues, so I added it to Folder and Process exclusions, in which I can now run a Secure file deletion scan, and have been fine ever since. Hope this resolves it for you :)

  • Thank you for your reply columbo.

Setting Folder and Process exclusions for CCleaner seems to do the trick. :D

I've testet CCleaner a few times after Folder and Process exclusions, and I'm able to run CCleaner without issues.

I'll give it a day or two. If I'm not experiencing any issues, this post can get a solved mark on it.

Thank you again for your help columbo.

  • You're welcome, Svenni212000, it was gladly done :)

Thanks for posting back, and hopefully it "sticks" for you.

It would be nice if such a popular software would run a little smoother without our having to allow it in exclusions, but oh well, at least we are able to resolve it in that way ^_^

Keep us posted as you desire.

  • For those who may read this thread, could CCleaner and BD run with no issues by just adding the above 2 files to the Process Exclusions, and that would have solved the problem..maybe, as I didn't try the one at a time approach, but the "shotgun" method of including even the Folder Exclusion, and was done with it and resolved.

  • Use the product in User Mode and also turning ON Paranoid Mode from Firewall Module will let you know to some extent how Bitdefender tackle with the running softwares/processes etc.

  • Thanks ONT, as I've kind have wondered that myself for posts with issues of a game not running, or being able to get out bound connection, is to sometime just try what you mentioned, and seeing if it will pop up to be allowed by the firewall using Paranoid mode.

Maybe not on place of the exclusions, or recommended firewall settings, but maybe sometime to try that first, just to see how far it would free things (allow software) up?

  • Thank you so much this fixed my problem with ccleaner!
