Hijacked Web Cam?

Here's a question for BD admin, ONT, Columbo, and anyone else that might know the answer.

If I am using BD (in this case Total Security 2013) and it is properly configured, can someone hijack my attached web cam? Can they also hijack the attached microphone?

Since this is becoming a worldwide problem I just thought I'd see if anyone knew if BD protects against this. :unsure:

There is a test tool, the results are not in favor of Bitdefender, he does not pass tests for protection.

Most webcams and microphones are "hijacked" via the use of R.A.T's (Remote access Trojans), these enable the hacker to view your whole computer as if they were sat in front of it, much like many legitimate remote control software packages. They therefore have access to your webcam/Microphone.

Bitdefender Antivirus should be able to handle Trojans effectively so do not worry. Additionally you most external cams have a power light, if it's on while not in use by yourself i.e over skype, you know something is going on.

Other forms of attack I don't know enough about but I'm sure your firewall should be able to keep things in check.

First share us the "proper configurations" of the whole product. For avoiding Remote Access and possible hijact attack, there are settings in the product such as Stealth Mode, Firewall General Rules, Block Port Scan Attempt. I put up some similar queries which are not bothered to answer by technical support ever.

Unfortunately since the release of 2012, Bitdefender's developers implement the disgusting silent security feature due to which now Bitdefender lacks a lot in Notifications/Pop-up and user control over the product. Thus we can't know using Bitdefender what is going on within the system, in and outs and who (malware or hacker) is trying to intrude into the system as you can see the first link in my previous post (buffer overflow error).
