Windows Security Center Warning: Bd Antivirus Disabled?

Hi All,

I'm new to BD (presently using the 30 day trial of BDIS 2008) and was wondering if this behavior is normal. Every time I bootup my Windows XP Pro SP2 computer, after entering my password at the Welcome screen, the BD icon appears on the taskbar alright, along with my other icons. But after several seconds the Windows Security Center pops up a warning icon on the taskbar saying BD Antivirus is disabled, but the warning then disappears on its own after another several seconds. BD Antivirus (and other components) seem to operate fine upon checking their status. My real time Antivirus settings are set to Custom (Aggressive but with actions to take for infected files set 1st and 2nd to Deny access and continue).

Is this normal only for the trial version? And is there a feature to activate BD prior to login?

Thanks.

  • Hello Chai,

It's a normal behavior, because BD takes a few seconds to initialize and notify Windows that everything's up and running. There's nothing to worry about.

About the second question: no, there's no way to make BD load before you login.

  • Thanks again, Cris.

  • You're welcome, Chai.

  • I've finished up a 1 year subscription with Bitdefender v10 plus of which was excellent. It had the odd windows boot up crash but it didn't bother me as it was an awesome scanner that never let anything through.

The only gripe was I wish it would enable http scanning as default.

So I'm now trialling Bitdefender 2008 and found also the annoying message stating the firewall is disabled.

My fix was to temp. Disable both virus and firewall and then jump in to the security center and select the check box to manually monitor my virus scanner myself.
