Sometimes by just doing a search with the text of the error message, will give you an insight to your problem.
I performed a search with " bdagent.exe is not valid Win32 application " (without "") http://www.google.com.au/search?client=fir...G=Google+Search
and came up with the following possibilities and believe that the answer is in the 1st 2 items on this page - http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000726.htm
i.e this issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
1. File is corrupt, bad, or missing.
2. File is not designed for your version of Windows.
This can occur if your system is already infected and you are attempting to install the BD to help you get rid of the infection.
3. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file.
This is rare and don't believe is the case on your system.
4. Hardware incompatibility.
OK read some of the other info in the search result - good idea is self help you learn more that way.0 -
Hello wolly,
What pcbugfixer said is correct.
The steps you need to take to solve this are:- did BitDefender ever run on our computer? If not, then number 2 might be the cause. Make sure that you installed the correct version of BitDefender. In other words:
- if you have a 32bit OS, then you have to install the 32bit version of BitDefender
- if you have a 64bit OS, you have to install the 64bit version of BitDefender.
Check what version of Windows you have installed, and download the appropriate version from here: futurenow.bitdefender.com - If you have the correct version, and it still doesn't work, it means that BD installation might have got corrupted. Please reinstall BitDefender by
- uninstalling the currect version, using BD Uninstall Tool
- reboot your PC
- install BitDefender
- reboot as needed - If you suspect number 3 (malware infection) could be the cause, make a BitDefender Online scan of your system: http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html (this works only in Internet Explorer, because it needs to install an ActiveX component)
- If the above steps don't solve the problem, please post again. Also, post some additional information, such as:
- Windows version
- BitDefender exact version
- some hardware details
- what other security applications (if any) do you have installed
