Registration/login Issue From Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition

Hello,

I am using a Windows 8 laptop.

I use Firefox as my browser.

I installed Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition almost 30 days ago. I have scanned the forums and anything I could try to find dealing with this issue.

I have created an account on MyBitdefender after installation hoping it would resolve, but it didn't. That is why I continued to research the issue to find a resolve.

I don't want to be locked out of the program. I don't feel it needs to be so complicated.

Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition version: 1.0.15.946

It updates. It scans. I just can't login.

It states:

You need to register your Bitdefender installation to continue using this product after the expiration period.

If I select LOGIN - I get a message that asks me to please wait while Bitdefender page loads and then I get a screen that states:

You need to have javascript enabled to view this page

I have twice had a message that it could not connect. Mostly it is the javascript error. My javascript is enabled.

I have tried to repair the program. Rebooted. Same thing.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

Is it easy to fix? I've spent a great deal of time on this already and it is tiring.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Sandoz

    Hello,

    For the login page we are using IE features.

    Can you access this page on IE: https://my.bitdefender.com/en_us/free/ ?

  • In Windows Internet Explorer

    Click on the icon cogwheel top right;

    select «Internet options»;

    click the «Security»tab;

    click the Other..»;

    check the «Enable» under «Run scripts from a Java application»;

    press OK.

  • Catalin Dobrescu: Before I tried this, I started to look at the IE settings.

    Thank you for the IE insight.

    I currently use Internet Explorer 10.

    Rampant: I followed what you said, but within IE10, the Other option you mentioned was not available?

    But this inspired me!

    I went into the settings as you suggested, but within IE10 I had to go to the settings through the Cogwheel in the top right corner -

    OR (just in case others have this issue):

    1.On web browser menu click "Tools" and select "Internet Options".

    2.In the "Internet Options" window select the "Security" tab.

    3.On the "Security" tab click on the "Custom level..." button.

    4.When the "Security Settings - Internet Zone" dialog window opens, look for the "Scripting" section.

    5.In the "Active Scripting" item select "Enable".

    6.When the "Warning!" window pops out asking "Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?" select "Yes".

    7.In the "Internet Options" window click on the"OK" button to close it.

    8.Click on the "Refresh" button of the web browser to refresh the page.

    When I tried this, it didn't seem to make a change. I was sad, but I then tried this:

    I opened Command Prompt as an Administrator (very important or you get an error)

    I then entered: regsvr32 jscript.dll (yes there is a space between) and Enter.

    I got a box to come up saying it was successful, clicked OK to close the box.

    I then entered: regsvr32 vbscript.dll (yes another space between) and Enter.

    Another box appeared stating it was successful, clicked OK to close the box.

    Refreshed my IE10 windows.

    Then I braved opening my Bitdefender and selected MyBitdefender. I selected what had become the dreaded Login button to see if this finally worked.

    I WAS ABLE TO LOGIN!!!! Success.

    So happy! I did a happy dance! :D<img class=" />

    This was driving me crazy for the last 30 days because I didn't think it would be something as trivial as a javascript setting. I am glad to find the ****** entry in Command Prompt worked because I was on the verge of pulling my hair out.

    Thank you for your input. I am very appreciative. I had checked the settings before, but didn't realize IE would impact it.

    Thank you and thank you again :)
