Bd 10 Free/decreased Performance/connection Lost

:huh: Bitdefender has usually helped in the past. Recently BD was installed. Since that moment the PC's performance diminished considerably. So it was elected to un-install Bit Defender. Once uninstalled Internet Explorer became unstable and for some reason would not connect to the Internet. Several troubleshooting trials were run.

At first it seemed the IP was not functioning properly. So all routers and modem were reset several times and even left off, unplugged totally for an hour. The other PC would connect just fine without any hesitation.

After narrowing down the problems and finally finding out BD caused the unstable situation another browser was used first. This browser connected uneventfully. Then IE was attempted and all connection was lost again. No other browser would work once IE7 was used. Connection totally lost.

Next a full complete advanced search was used to find any trace of BD. And of course there were several pieces left behind even after uninstall through control panel. Then a thorough clean and defragment was initiated with several cleaners including registry cleaners and Microsoft's Onecare once Internet connection was re-established.

Other measures were attempted including safe mode troubleshooting. Many other tests, system restore and last known good configuration were attempted.

Finally IE7 was restored to good health. The latest BD 10 has some problems that may need to be addressed.

Thank you for BD Free. For now we are not going to use the Free edition for the above outlined reasons. One of the biggest is a dramatic decrease in system resources and performance.

After several hours of troubleshooting we almost felt it would be faster to reformat. Fortunately the connection began working again.

Hopefully this enough information. And hopefully all the methods to resolve this issue have been stated. Some steps may have been left out.

If any more information is needed please let us know.

We would love to use BD Free since we have used BD Free v.8 with great success.

Once BD was completely removed the system returned to normal.
