Unable To Delete Infected Items On Backup Drive.

Options

I have just installed Bitdefender for Mac and done a first scan of the complete system. However, after 23 hours, I have stopped the scan as it was still scanning the backup drive. Three infected files have been deleted, but those same files on the backup disc, Time Machine, cannot. Thus, Bitdefender is telling me my system is still infected. Can I safely ignore this statement, or will Bitdefender try to rescan the whole system next time?
