Problem: System Is Not Protected

Hello,

i have a big problem and can't find the solution.

Since a few days my bitdefender says: "System is not protected" and in the tray "Bitdefender is inactive".

Bitdefender install updates but always says "System is not protected". Deinstall/Install doens't solve the problem.

I use the free edition with Windows Server 2012.

Any ideas?

  • Hello,

Can you provide us gzserv.log to investigate further?

    It's located in C:\program files\bitdefender\antivirus free edition

You can upload it here or via www.sendspace.com, www.mediafire.com

    Thanks,

    Alex

  • Any solution?

  • I am seeing the same problem (System is not protected) with Bitdefender Free 1.0.20.1083 running on Windows Server 2012.

Updates continue to happen, but I can't change any of the Virus Shield or Auto Scan settings (both are OFF). Display does take me to the MyBitdefender page.

I'd like to attach my gzserv.log file, but it is in excess of 8MB.

  • This problem seems tied to logging out of the local My Bitdefender ('System is not protected' now appears as well as a message saying that the 'Trial period has expired.') and signing in with a new user id (the 'System is not protected' message remains even though my login was confirmed).

On a virtual machine with the same configuration, I updated the software while maintaining an earlier user id (email address), and the system was still considering itself protected after the requested restart.

  • I have already the bug and no protection <img class=" />

  • On reboot Bitdefender attempts to launch the service. The system tray icon stays Green for about 5 sec. and then goes Red with"System is not protected".

    Just started this morning.

I noticed that it is showing as Stopped in msconfig. and when I hit the Apply button after I check the Bitdefender box it automatically unchecks...???

Does anybody have a solution for this?

  • Hello all,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

Please make sure there are no other security solutions on the system besides Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition, then attempt a product repair by going to Start menu > All Programs > Bitdefender > select 'Repair'.

Please let me know how is everything going afterwards. Thank you.

This did not work on Windows Server 2012. I am still getting the "Not Protected' message after update (1.0.20.1083) and restart.

I also tried logging into my previously registered account to see if that would change anything. It did not.

I am getting the exact thing with 1.0.20.1083. I tried repairing and then finally uinstalling and then reinstalling, but it eventually gets the same thing.

  • Additional observation...

While the Last Updated time/date corresponds to today, the My Bitdefender group box says "Could not connect to server."

However, hitting the Display button takes me right to the MyBitdefender webpage with the appropriate account.

Virus Shield displays "Nothing scanned yet".

    Auto Scan displays "Paused".

Neither of these last two can be changed from the Off setting.

  • OK, I’ve solved the problem for 24 hours.

I won't go through all the solutions tried over the past month, including trying to use the recomended "Bitdefender Repair routine"; most of you already know them.

One tool did prove to be useful. Shell Extension Manager It provides a list of Shell Extensions loaded into your system. These can cause Explorer to hang or crash if not operating properly and my Event viewer was reporting a number of errors, esp in the Service Control manager.

It turns out the only Shell Extension loaded in the past 2 months was from Bitdefender.

Bottom Line I removed Bitdefender from the system.

So far Kaspersky's trial version isn't generating any errors or causing any problems.

Have you tried using the dedicated uninstaller? Click on the one that says bitdefender free

    http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Downloads/...umer_trial.html

Are there still Shell extensions after you run the uninstaller? I kinda gave up, I went to Panda Cloud Antivirus, which is roughly comparable to bitdfender in what I need.

Are you using a laptop? So, I'm having the same problem, no response, intermittently on my netbook. What can be done? How would I manually start the autoscan on my system?

First I used the Shell Extension Manager to disable the Bitdefender Shell extension.

Second I used Window's "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel to uninstall Bitdefender. That was good enough to give me back control of my Browsers and stop Explorer from crashing. And it removed the Bitdefender Shell Extension. Of course Kaspersky loaded their own Shell extensions but they don't seem to be causing any problems.
