Download & Install...

Hello

I have decided to change my notebook security software to bitdefender.

I have perused the forum, and read the comparisons. I was hoping in one shot if possible to find out if

1) it is best to download, then uninstall my current software, and then install bitdefender?

and 2) Having read the forum, I am fearful it will make my outlook 2010 crash. I am planning to get biddefender Internet security 2013, and I have windows 7 pro 64-bit.

Does anyone know if this has ever been an issue?

Also, is there a way to learn this software, such as where the exclusion area is because I don't want to download this and find that some of my programs do not work, such as my computer back up which I do weekly.

Is there a phone number one can call regarding pre-sales? I do not see one and am looking all over.

What others may say in 3 sentences, will take me 3 paragraphs, so hang in there with me

I noticed you posted in the New Bitdefender forum and are inquiring about the 2013 version, so I'll try to cover both bases just in case.

As far as question #1, yes, ideally it's nice to download the AV before uninstalling the previous AV, as some of the stub installers can take a bit of time to download and install. That is why Bitdefender is so good about also providing a direct full download version, which can be found here, for the 2013 version, and for the New Bitdefender, here.

Also, download your present AVs uninstall tool from here, and after the uninstall, check all the usual suspect places for leftover files (i.e. Program Files and Program Files (x86) Hidden Files and Folders etc)

As far as Outlook 2010, I really can't say if it will be an issue. Realize, that when you install Bitdefender you will have the option of running a free 30 day evaluation/trial to confirm that it works for you and Outlook and your PC.

The 2013 forum has excellent information in the Pinned Topics of the General/Installation/Antivirus/Firewall sub forums. The ones that would help you, would be these 2, one for creating Exclusions, and the other for Recommend Firewall Settings.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention that the "trial versions" are fully functional, so you can get a true feel for how Bitdefender works, and responds on your PC.
