Bitdefender 2013 Prevents Windows 7 From Scanning On Canon Mx850

We have a Canon MX850 Office All-In-One Inkjet Printer. The MX850 prints & scans fine from my laptop running Windows XP but will print fine but not scan from our 2nd laptop, a 64-bit Vaio running Windows 7 Home Premium.


This was not the case before installing BitDefender 2013 on the Vaio - until then it scanned fine.


While I knew the problem existed it only became a crisis this week when I was out of town & my fiance needed to scan & email some important documents. Big problem.


Once I got home I confirmed the MX850 scans fine from my laptop running Windows XP - it appears to be a problem between Windows 7 & BD 2013.


Reading the forum notes at "http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=37677", optimistically titled "[solved] Canon Printer Still Will Not Print" it seems that BD's repeated attempts to fix the problem have been less than effective.


Aside from the long 'safe mode' work-arounds with 'be sure to not update' warnings the actual build releases, build: 16.23.0.1637 on 11/04/12 & build: 16.29.0.1830 on 05/13/13, clearly did not correct the issue.


We're currently on build: 16.31.0.1868 and the problem clearly still exists.


On 06/19/12 "JF42EHVAU" posted that BD 2013 also caused problems with the Canon MX850 so this has been on the radar for over a year.


If you know that the issue cannot be fixed, please just be honest & tell me so I can move to another Antivirus product.
