Quarantines That "break" The Os

Greetings. Great product! My system is WinXP 3.

A suggestion for fine-tuning. I downloaded the Eicar virus test file (both before and after installation) in order to see if Bitdefender was working, and later deleted it.

The Eicar file became part of the c:/system volume information/_restore ... file. During a routine autoscan overnight, the _restore file was quarantined.

Apparently, this breaks XP. The next morning I got many delayed write failures (on /$MFT, if I remember correctly). Browsers (FF, Chrome) would not start.

I guessed that the quarantine might be the cause, so I excluded, the _restore file and rebooted. Things are working fine (and the tooltip in your threat log does show that the problem was the Eicar not-a-virus file).

I don't really know much about XP internals, so the above is just an educated guess. But, I can imagine that some users might freak out. If my guess is correct, you might want to add a note to the log file when you do quarantine a critical system file.

Thanks again for making the product available,

Doug
