Hi,

BitDefender has detected the following infected files but is unable to disinfect them. I'm also unable to delete them.

C:\Documents and Settings\[******]\Local Settings\Temp\~DF2037.tmp=>(body)=>(Compressed Rtf) Disinfection failed

C:\Documents and Settings\[******]\Local Settings\Temp\~DF50AE.tmp=>(body)=>(Compressed Rtf) Infected: Generic.Peed.Eml.74FB4639

C:\Documents and Settings\[******]\Local Settings\Temp\~DF50AE.tmp=>(body)=>(Compressed Rtf) Disinfection failed

C:\Documents and Settings\[******]\Local Settings\Temp\~DF8AAA.tmp=>(body)=>(Compressed Rtf) Infected: Generic.Peed.Eml.74FB4639

C:\Documents and Settings\[******]\Local Settings\Temp\~DF8AAA.tmp=>(body)=>(Compressed Rtf) Disinfection failed

What should I do?

  • Try closing your email client and try again.

    If it doesn't work try restarting and then,before you open any application try deleting them again.

    I use Gmail. Also I can't delete the files after a fresh reboot.

    Actually, the files don't appear to be locked. I've run Unlocker, which was unable to find any locking handles.

    In fact what I get when I try to delete them is a message saying "Cannot delete ~DF50AE: Can not read from the source file or disk"

  • Sorry for the bump, but still haven't found an answer to this one
