I have just bought 3PCs-1YR license installed the latest Internet Security 2014.

Now I am having problem logging in to my hotmail account

This has always been working OK till I installed BIS2014.

Here is what I tried to get things working:

1- I turned off my PC; then

2- restarted my modem and router; then

3- powered on my PC; then

4- cleared cookies and all browsing history (basically every cleaning options) in the latest Opera 15; then

5- off BIS firewall; then

6- https://www.outlook.com/owa‎ >> the page doesn't even load at all; then

7- installed latest firefox 23; then

8- https://www.outlook.com/owa‎ >> the page doesn't even load at all AGAIN; then

9- gave up; then

10- this forum

11- may be you can help me

I'm running Windows 8 x64 with all the latest updates installed

BIS is fully updated as of today

No other anti-virus software

Both Opera and FireFox has totally no add-ons and extensions except latest Flash Player and Java

I have never changed any settings in BIS

Every other website works fine

ONLY HOTMAIL DOESN'T WORK

    Try this link:

    http://www.mail.live.com/

if that doesn't work it may be one of the bitdefender plugins needs configuring to allow access. I can access outlook.com with the link but it doesn't have all the browser plugins FF and Chrome do.

  • Hi

    the link doesn't work too

my post should have read with IE9 I can access outlook.com with the link but it doesn't have all the browser plugins FF and Chrome do.

not sure what happened there

anyhow see if there are any filters in the browser plugins for FF and Chrome that are configurable to add an exception.

also, I just tried it in Bitdefender Safepay after paying some bills off. Outlook.com worked fine in that browser environment.

  • Thanks all for reply

I have tried these additional steps:

    - remove BIS2014 using "The New Bitdefender Uninstaller" removal tool. And yes everything about BIS was completely removed.

    - without BIS2014, I tried to access hotmail website AND IT WORKED! YAY! (delighted for a moment)

    - then, I reinstalled BIS2014 (all settings are at their defaults)

    - I COULDN'T ACCESS HOTMAIL WEBSITE after installing BIS2014

then I had this not-so-cool idea of reformatting

    - I reinstalled windows 8 pro x64, everything was wiped clean

    - then I did a hard reset (and did a firmware update) on my router and restart the modem too

    - updated windows 8

    - then on a clean new and updated windows 8, I installed Opera 15

    - then I installed BIS2014

    - I STILL CAN'T ACCESS MY HOTMAIL WEBSITE

As of now, I have to leave my PC without BIS2014 so that I can access Hotmail account

    Any help~?

  • UPDATE:

I can use outlook 2013 to access my hotmail acccount without problem!

Somehow browsers just won't work with hotmail website on my PC with BIS2014

Everything else is fine and good. Is BIS blocking hotmail website?

    Strange

I along with many others strongly suggest you remove Java. No good can come from it. Note: The Java add-on is not the same as Java programming software.

In fact Flash is even questionable from a security point of view, though it is not nearly as malware prone as Java.

This is from last Jan and Firefox is obviously now allowing it again at least until the next major Java exploit.

Following active exploits, Mozilla adds all recent versions of Java to its Firefox add-on blocklist

This is from one year ago but nothing has changed with regard to why people should not use the Java add-on

How to turn off Java on your browser - and why you should do it now

    @ ssjimmy

Both are secured websites and may not support SSL scanning. Did you try these steps?

    - open the main Bitdefender interface and go to Settings (upper right corner)

    - from there click on Privacy Control

    - select the Antiphising tab

    - switch to OFF the option Scan SSL

    - close the Bitdefender interface and check if the issue persists

I am here for your should you require further assistance.

    Have a lovely day!
