Bd Antivirus Locking Up My Laptop

I purchased Antivirus 2008 a couple weeks ago, and it has started locking up my system everytime on start up - until i uninstall it. at first i couldn't figure out why Windows was locking up and so i took my laptop in for repair/checkup,,, and they said it was the BD AV that was causing it.. i then attributed the possibility of it conflicting with Comodo firewall, and so i uninstalled Comodo and reinstalled BD -- started locking up again... i am actually considering requesting a refund right now.. but any ideas/suggestions?

I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2

Additional system info -

Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3400

1.80 GHz, 2 GB of RAM

Does your laptop you bought come with a pre installed anti virus?

It came bundled with Norton AV - which i remove everytime after reinstalling my laptop. i have been using BitDefender on this machine for more than a year,, and haven't ran into a problem like this before.
