[escalated to Testing team] Bd Is Blocking Home Service

I have a service running e.g on http://192.168.1.10:883. It is web interface of running service and i cannot find why BD is blocking access to it. I tried to disable every function but no go. Once i uninstall BD access is granted. Any clue how to solve this issue?

Just want to add that when access above address, site says 'connecting...' without any info pop-up and nothing happens. When I try to access web interface of the device (http://192.168.1.10) it connects me without any problem.

  • Bitdefender Windows 8 Security is installed on Windows 8 64 fresh installed. Windows firewall disabled. No other security apps installed. Everything was running fine until HDD broke and had to reinstall everything from scratch. I paid for license and want to keep using it. Still waiting for help...

  • Hi TiedCone,

I know this may be pretty basic, but have you tried turning the Firewall on, go into Firewall/Settings and enable Paranoid Mode, restart your PC, and see if you get a pop up prompt to allow and keep access?

The below apply to BD W8 Security also:

Also, try the recommended firewall settings: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35496

    Adding Firewall/AV/Process Exclusion rules: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35502

Otherwise, if no one else comes along, here are other support options: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/contact-us.html

    Kind regards,

    Scott

  • Thank you for reply.

I never tried to enable Paranoid Mode so good point to try. I will also follow other links you pasted. Will keep you informed.

    You're welcome :)

Hopefully the 1st two options resolve this for you. The Bitdefender Firewall is application based. The .exe or process for this software may need to be added into Exclusions, too. Hopefully, Paranoid mode will catch it and add it "automatically" when ticked to allow.

    Yes, keep us posted :)

    edit: sp

  • Unfortunately, Paranoid mode does not catch anything in this case. I cannot add an exclusion due to i use firefox to access mentioned webif. Followed all links without any progress. Website still says 'connecting...' and i can wait forever to get access. Ticked created.

Sorry to hear nothings worked. If you want to post your support ticket number, it may help to speed things up should Georgia (forum Tech Support) look into this thread and into your forum email account for the ticket number, and not find it (it could save some extra back and forth posting, and time).

Maybe someone else here will have a suggestion.

Hope this gets resolved for you.

  • I collected some additional info, not sure if it helps. I used firefox tool to see what happen when I ask for access.

When BD is uninstalled and I have an access to my service it looks like this:

Then window popup asking for login and password and after log in it gives me an access to it (see good.png):

Thank you TiedCone for posting your ticket number, and for the excellent information posted above.

As you may have figured from my last post, this issue is now above my paid grade ^_^, and if you have Bitdefender uninstalled, this may be a moot point, but was wondering if you had tried another browser like IE or Chrome. In the past, we've have had some issues with Firefox and its seeming "pulse updates" and Bitdefender's ability to keep up with them. Or if it was a Bitdefender update issue?

Also, I was considering if going into Antivirus/Settings/Modify/Traffic Scan/ and disable Scan HTTP traffic would help. Just throwing that out there.

Thank you for doing your part. I hope Bitdefender steps in to help you here, or with your submitted ticket.

  • I tried IE and Chrome. With IE i have an access to login screen but nothing happens after typing login and password, just connecting... With Chrome is similar. Login screen popup and after typing login and password, just connecting... but when i refresh page it gives me an access.

Going into Antivirus/Settings/Modify/Traffic Scan/ and switching options off does not make any difference. I already tried to disable all options in there.

    Thanks anyway for feedback.

  • I have the exact same problem on BD ts 2013, over the last 4/5 days I have spent hours trying to find out what was causing the issue,it only happened last week following an update from BD, and won’t let me access on my internal wed services running on a Linux Debian OS. I have tried everything, just as you to know avail. I can remove DB and it works perfect.

I have backup of my PC as I just rebuilt it last month, and when I restore the backup everything works ok until BD does its update.

The funny thing ---- I’m using BD Total Security on my PC, but have a laptop running windows 8 with just internet security (not total security) and it’s done the latest backup and still works ok.

I’m now going to try the latest BD 2014 free for 30 days to see if it works in that, before purchasing.

  • update, I tried installing just the internet security but still the same. and the latest BD ts is just the same as well.. there is no 2014 product out yet, so I'm left with the option to find a new antivirus or restore my PC and disable the updates permanently (disasters)

  • Any progress with fault finding? I realised this is not only my problem and not only with this version of BD so should be easy to find solution as this happened during last days.

  • Hello TiedCone,

Thank you for reporting this connectivity issue.

First please follow carefully all these steps to turn off each Bitdefender module so we can isolate the feature causing this issue:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=194847

However, if the issue persists, check if this workaround fixes everything

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=195947

I'm looking forward to your feedback.

  • Hello Georgia,

Thank you for quick reply. I followed above steps. Step #1 - no changes. Step #2 fixed problem. Is this temporary fix? Shall I keep updating only signatures for the time being?

  • Hi TiedCone,

Thank you for sharing the results.

Indeed, this is just a temporary workaround, effective until we find a permanent fix for your issue, which will be delivered through automatic update of the Bitdefender product. Please perform only signature updates until then.

I have created the request to the Testing team and I will now wait for their update. As soon as I will have new information

on this case I will get back to you either in this thread or via Ticket ID: 201308311000504.

    Have a nice day!

  • I have been having a similar problem for the last two weeks. I am unable to access internet in my office. We use Cyberoam Captive portal on 172.16.10.10:8090 to gain access to internet. This login page itself is always unavailable. This problem is on both wired and wireless connections.

Now I have removed BD TS2013 and internet is working. I tried all fixes as mentioned above but nothing works. Please help.

  • Hello,

    @ TiedCone

Please reply to my email sent via Ticket ID: 201308311000504 as I need further logs from you. Thank you.

    @ Samraj

Did you try to rename the file bdtl.dll to see if the connection works afterwards? Here's how:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=195947

I am looking forward to your reply.

  • I'm having the same problem trying to connect to WebIf (DM8000) on 192.168.1.102 and Transmission on my Popcorn Hour C-200 on 192.168.1.101:9091.

    Renaming bdtl.dll works for now.

Tech, please make a post in this thread when you have a permanent solution or fix.

    Hello,

Did you try to rename the file bdtl.dll to see if the connection works afterwards? Here's how:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=195947

I am looking forward to your reply.

I tried renaming bdtl.dll but it didn't work.

Then I installed the bitdefender direct download offline installation from

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35494

and put off auto updates. Since then its working.

Should I try renaming bdtl.dll now? Because previously I renamed the dll after getting the recent updates.

  • Any news about fix?

  • Hi Georgia,

This is really annoying. I paid for subscription and I cannot use it. You force me to 'abandon this ship'. I do not understand how product with #1 security announced application can have such poor support. I answered you that cannot give you remote access to my PC for troubleshooting due to different reasons and this is not a reason you cannot answer my questions. I am aware that this questions are not suppose to be directed to you but techs. Unfortunately, you are the only one here who try to help us. I have already removed BD and installed Eset trail. Cannot wait any longer for fix. However, as I paid for subscription, I still be waiting for fix. Do not ruin your reputation.

ps: What makes me think, why techs cannot find bug causing this problem if they know when it was implemented...

  • I have the same issue, and starting in safe mode and deleting the bdtl.dll works, but only for a day or so, even though I have usermode turned on and prompt before downloading it still updates and replaces the file. In the end I had to start in safe mode and change the properties of the bdtl file to deny all write/read/execute access under the application account which works for now.. My only concern now is that BD has known about the issue for 3 weeks now, so how hard can it be to solve the problem and provide an update to fix the issue permanently. ?
