Ssl Website Problems

Always used ESET's nod32 antivirus. I was very pleased with this software but because I had to renew my license, I bought bitdefender antivirus 2008 instead.

My configuration didn't change a bit. I just uninstalled nod32 (and made sure all registry items were gone)

After rebooting and installing bitdefender I can't access any ssl sites anymore. (My online banking site for example and also others I tested.)

The problem disappears after uninstalling the software again.

Also, because I dualboot for study purposes (Vista Home Premium 32 and Vista Ultimate 64), I can confirm that both installations give the same problem.

Any suggestions?

  • OK...

    Just did some further testing.

It seems that the problem is a conflict between Anonymizer's Total Net Shield and bitdefender.

If I switch Total Net Shield to the Insecure mode, the connection to SSL sites works fine.

Once I use the secure mode, no SSL sites can be loaded.

When I had NOD32 installed, I didn't have this problem.

    Still want suggestions...

  • Very disappointed...

    I'm going back to NOD32.

  • Dear jdenhaer,

The only thing that you can do if you really still want to use BitDefender is performing what is written here when the problem occurs. Contact tommorow livechat. Select technical support. This is only a user forum so only contacting support can help you solve the imcomptabililty problem. You can always try excluding the installation directory of total net shield. Right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on open advanced settings, once in the antivirus section press on the exceptions tab and follow the steps.

    Best regards

    Niels

  • I already sent an e-mail to customer support with sysdump files included.

Let's hope to get answer quickly. LiveAssistance doesn't reply my question. Maybe they're too busy.

For the mean time, I uninstalled the software and installed a 30 day free version of NOD32.

If there is no sollution found, then I will e-mail the Anonymizer company and ask them for advice.
