Bitdefender & Thunderbird
Greetings, this is my first post to this forum.
I have Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 installed. I'm also using Thunderbird. While using Thuderbird, whenever I try to access mail messages or change folders I get a spike in svchost.exe that lasts for several seconds. This has only occured since installing BD AV. Does anyone know what settings can prevent this from happening?

Dear James007,
BitDefender Threat Scanner runs under svchost.exe.
That is because BitDefender is at that moment scanning your incoming and outgoing mails. If you don't want to let BitDefender scan every file on your computer you have to do this right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on open advanced settings,go to the antivirus section press on custom level now expand scan accessed files now select scan program files only.

Thank you very much.

Dear James007,
But keep in mind that sometimes you still are going to see a slightly higher usage of the svchost.exe process. You are welcome.

Thanks again. I'm a new BD user and am still learning the best way to use it. I've ditched Norton on my 5 machines and gone to BD on all of them based on reviews I've read and the reputation of this forum.0
