Pre-boot Clean Stuck!

I have a huge problem. My bitdefender prompted me to perform a restart, I did and it started the pre boot scan with a black screen and "The antivirus solution installed on your system is cleaning your computer." Is the only thing on the screen. It just says this for hours and hours on end. All day. When I tried to restart and hit F8 to boot to safe mood it just immediately goes back to this. I can't boot so safe mode. It is extremely important I resolve this immediately.

    I have exactly the same problem (in addition to the problem that Bitdefender deleted my outlook.pst with all my contacts and emails file before). For more than two days I have not been able to work on a very time critical issue since the computer does not boot.


    However, the support is no help at all. I have called them several times and contacted them via email. However, the only answers I got was "wait for the system to boot" (which I am awaiting for >24h now) and "wait for the answer of the second level support" (which I am awaiting for > 48h now).


    According to first level support, the second level support has no phones and can answer only via email (some time in the future). It is unbelievable that such a serious bug has not been fixed yet and that the support simply ignores such ciritical situations for several days.

    Try hitting the F10 key (or whatever key brings up the boot order for your system) then starting Windows. Download Easy BCD and remove the Bitdefender start entry .


    Or if you have the Windows Install disc restart using that and use the repair system to edit the start entries.

    Dear AdrianHa, this was the first helpful comment I received in two days! Many many thanks! I am finally able to use my computer again! However, I finally succeeded in a slightly different way than suggested on the pages you indicated. I was not able to download the mentioned tool since I had not internet connection after the boot in secure mode. However, after restarting and searching all the Windows 8.1 boot-options, I found an option which said "repair windows startup" (translation from the German original). This finally fixed the problem.


    However, I still have not fix for the deleted Outlook.pst-file. Do you have any suggestions on this issue as well? :)
