Firewall Issue On Win2000 Vs Winxp

Help! I installed BitDefender Internet Security 2008 trial version on two of my machines; my desktop, which is running Win2000, and my laptop, which is running WinXP. Both BitDefender configurations are *exactly* the same, but with the firewall enabled the desktop machine is fine, but I can't get internet service either in or out of the laptop, even though I have configured, say, Firefox and Putty for traffic both ways.

Is there a workaround for this is should I just bail on BD and not buy the full versions?

  • Dear genders,

Are you using wireless internet on your laptop? If so you need to trust your local wireless network to do that open BitDefender by right clicking on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on open advanced settings now go to the firewall section press on the zones tab see if you find an entry that is untrusted if present double click on it and change it to trusted press on ok. If this still fails press on the add button in the zones section browse local network and select trusted press on ok.

    Best regards
