Help Needed About Advanced Settings

Hi guys,

I am new to BitDefender and I just installed the Internet Security 2008 Trial Version. So far the program works fine with my Vista Ultimate Dell Laptop, except for one strange issue: as soon as I open "Settings" and set the shield to "Aggressive," rather than to "Default," and click "Close," BitDefender seems to accept my choice, but when I open again "Settings," everything is back to "Default." I see no "OK" button anywhere in the "Shield" menu, so I naturally assume that moving the arrow from Default to Aggressive would complete that action. Can someone tell me if I am doing anything wrong? Why do the settings go back to "Default," even when I check or uncheck items in "Custom Level"? I was thinking of buying BitDefender, but I will not do so, unless I can work with the program's options and change the protection levels or the action I want the program to execute in specific cases. It seems so far that "Default-" level protection is the only functional mode I have. Any help will be appreciated!

  • Hello Wyrd,

This is only a user forum.

Do you see default in bold? If that isn't the case than BitDefender is using changes that you made to the default level. Try this if this works let the slider on default level now press on custom level check the option check scan inside archives press on ok. The only difference between the aggressive scan and the default scan is that by the aggressive scan BitDefender scans also inside archives and on network shares. Now verify if BitDefender has saved your settings by first pressing on close. The normal behaviour should be that everything is greyed out and custom is in bold. Try also to reload the default settings to do that press on the advanced button once you are in the settings screen and press on restore default settings press on ok. If that still fails you need to peform these steps. Contact live chat afterwards. Select technical support. You can always try a repair installation first right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on exit. Now go to start, all programs,BitDefender 2008,repair or remove choose for repair.

    Best regards
