Safe Pay Not Responding

Hi all, I'm a relatively new user of BD and today used (or tried to) safepay. Firstly it took a good 10/15 seconds to open my online banking site and when I tried to log in with my credentials safepay logged me out twice for no reason. When I finally managed to make a transaction after 10/15 second waits between mouse clicks the whole thing froze. The only way I could get back to normal was to end the process through task manager which showed safepay as "not responding" Can anyone explain the reason behind this behaviour?? To be honest I've had nothing more than trouble since installing BD e.g. had to uninstall and reinstall it 4 times to get wallet working half decently ( it still will not open some sites) I had to remove malwarebytes (which was not live, only used for the odd scan) as a tech told me it will conflict with BD an the same with super antispyware. It takes 3 hours 15 min for a system scan which slows everything else down Is BD really all it's hyped up to be????

Whats your systems specs?

I'm running BD with MBAM Pro real time protection(see my sig)and absolutely no... issues whats so ever,Most problems get blamed on BD when in the end it's the users PC/configuration.

my scans at most with a full system scan selected is 40mins to 1hr not bad IMO.

We do not recommend running multiple security solutions with real-time protection on the same system, as this is known to cause system or software instability. Of course, it does not mean that a crash will occur immediately. We'll take the chance and remind you that the EULA clearly states that you should not install Bitdefender along other security solutions.

Please post back your ticket ID and tell me at what stage are you know: did you uninstall the other security solutions? Is it a general freezing or does it affect only Safepay?

Hi Georgia, here is the email I received from support Tccket id 2014013013430001

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to follow the steps from our email and provide us with the necessary files.

After analyzing the information we received from you we concluded that there are other security solutions or applications installed on your system, which could conflict with Bitdefender:

- some files and folders from AVG;

Running multiple security solutions on the same PC may affect their proper functionality as they compete for access to the same system resources. Even if they are turned off, there are some active processes running in the background.

We recommend you to uninstall other security solutions in order for Bitdefender to work properly.

1. In order to uninstall please download the corresponding uninstall tool from the link below:

2. Use the Repair feature as follows:

- Access MetroApp by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard

- Right click on the Bitdefender icon and from the taskbar on the bottom select Uninstall

- From the new window select Repair Bitdefender

- Wait for the operation to end and reboot your computer

- Check if the issue persists.

I carried out all these steps and it was after that I noticed the issue with Safe Pay although it was the first time I had used it with BD. Another thing I've noticed is "wallet" willnot save log in details for some sites, one being www.o2.ie if this info is of any use.

I would be curious to know how large your used hard drive space is. On my Windows XP SP3 system which has a used space of just under 100 GB, a BD full system scan takes between 2.5 and 3 hours. A Windows 7 laptop I use which has a hard drive used space of about 50 GB, a BD full system scan takes about 2 hours.

Hi Georgia, correct but Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not a AV program and is capible of running along side BD.

I just ran BD full sustem scan and "no infections were found" then ran SAS just to see and it found one infection, any idea how BT missed this

Thats just a harmless cookie,BD is probably not worried about that,do have BD scanning for cookies?(edit i see that you do)

SAS IMO is worthless,MBAM is a much better program SAS seems like all it finds is cookiess and nothing else, i wouldn't worry about it.

uncheck scan for cookies in SAS and you wont have to worry about that.

I understand its harmless cookies and not concerned about them but BD is to scan for cookies (not my setting by the way, it's autopilot) I had MBAM installed but a BD tech said it was interfering with BD!!! so I uninstalled it with the hope of BD running trouble free, had absolutely no problems like this with avast.

Noticed from your screenshot that your scanned items count was about 785,000. My full system scanned items count is about 1,997,578 items (more that twice your count). This could obviously be one of the reasons for the difference in scan times. Not sure what other mitigating factors might apply

Also, as attached screenshot shows, my most recent full system scan took over 6 hours! BD definitely takes longer to do a full system scan than other AV software, IMO of course.

I have a similar scan size to you but only 80 minutes to do it. (Attached). From what I understand the more times a scan is run the quicker it should be due to the Photon technology.

Your suggestion that I need to clean out my hard drive in order to reduce scan times is not exactly accurate. I regularly clean my HDD of all TIFs, Windows Temp files etc., defrag as necessary and do as much as I can to delete unused and obsolete data, programs, etc. As far as I can tell the lengthy scan times are directly related to the Files Per Second rate that BD scans produce.

Rohugh's comment regarding scan times decreasing as more and more scans are run, due to Photon technology, makes sense also but l've been told by BD support several times that full system scans are really unnecessary as running BD in Autopilot mode results in constant scanning.

Call me old school but I like to run full system scans on a fairly regular basis to confirm (as much as possible) that my system is clean. I've neglected doing that with BD because of the extreme scan times.

I also think that if a system scan detects something you have to ask why it was allowed in to start with once BD has been installed for a while.
