Just curious,, does BD provide ANY protection against this threat? if not will it in the future? any work being done to bring it on line at this time???

From Georgia's reply in that linked thread you are indeed protected real time, only if you are infected before using BD do you need a removal/disinfect tool.

That's right, the Bitdefender on-access filters protect against Cryptolocker.

Please make sure to keep Bitdefender updated, as this is the safest way to ensure it has the latest malware signatures: keep Autoupdate turned ON on the product interface. For manual update, hit Update Now on the Update panel, or right click on the Bitdefender icon from system tray and select Update Now.
