Pc Slow At Startup !

Hi,

New user to Bitdefender 2014 Internet Security (have 9 month promotional trial).

Have installed BD and everything seems fine except after switching pc on the computer is very slow for the first 10-15 minutes or so.

I have a constant chattering from disk for the first 10 minutes, after this time everything quietens down and it runs fine.

It is like a scan is running every time I switch computer on, dont think it is updating as this happens later on normally and does not affect performance.

What would be causing this issue, and how can I fix it ?

Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2

No other security programs installed. I did have Kaspersky prior to this installation which I removed with their own KISremover tool.

Any ideas what could be causing this initial slow down or is it normal behaviour ? The hard disk is chattering away constantly for about 10 minutes which I have never noticed prior to installing BD.

The support tool executable supporttool.exe is found in this location: C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender

Hope this is what you need:

Acer Power FH Series desktop PC

Intel Core 2 CPU

4300 @ 1.8 ghz

2046 RAM

ATI Radeon HD 4600 Graphics Card

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

Have been running Kaspersky Internet Security for the last 4-5 years without a problem, thought I would try BD as it gets good reviews and I was offered a free 9 month trial so thought give it a go. But at the moment I am not too happy (nor is the rest of family at the initial slow downs, are these normal).
