Unable To Update Or Register

So I have been at it for a day now and I am fed up with it. I try to enter my license key then I get something like "an internet connection is required to register" okay so I continue in trial mode hopefully it will get worked out. Then when I try and update I get the same exact error, "an internet connection is require to update" obviously I have an internet connection seeing as how I am posting this. But Bitdefender isnt connected ot something. I'm on Windows 8.1 if that makes a difference.

    If you're using BD Internet Security or Total Security, Windows Firewall should have been automatically disabled upon a BD install, please confirm if needed.


    Try running a repair, and see if that helps: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35489


    You could also try uninstalling BD from Programs and Features, and reinstall it using the full download version from here, but try the repair first.

    If repair dosn't work the OP can do what I did to get the update to work. Download the small installer file from the BD website. Run it and when it comes to Repair or Remove click on Remove. BD will remove the older version and then proceed to download and install the new updated version. All other anti-malware programs should preferably not be loaded during this process. I have had trouble in the past doing BD program updates with both BDIS and BD W8 Security if Malwarebytes is active. Setting exclusions might work but I think the better choice is just to disable those programs so they don't load at startup. After the BD update has been instalalled and license key entered successfully those program can be re-enabled to run at starup. Then do a restart and all hopefully will be GTG.
