Java On "application Rules" White-list

I have (I think ?) added Java "javaw.exe" to Bitdefender Firewall "Application Rules" (white list) ... in desperation trying to resolve a WiFi connection problem .

(The WiFi connection problem had nothing to do with Java  )

Because of Java's risky reputation should I leave javaw.exe on the "Application Rules" white-list or remove it ?

  • Hi kitscht :)

I really appreciate your response to my aging OP

That way, you won't need Java

Can I remove "javaw.exe" from "Application Rules" (white list) ?

I would be surprised if Java (considering its risks) should be on the BD white list

    Ping

For years I have encountered the "Ping" expression without having a clue as to what "ping" is/does/represents.

Then your post sent me on the hunt for "ICMP packets" and now "ping" ... and ultimately discovered "pong" too.

    • Wiki ICMP explained
    • Wiki Ping explained ... including samples

... the Echo Reply section is invaluable for deciphering "pong" (ping feedback)

Is ping-feedback (an expression I have encountered over the years) the same as "pong" ?

Thank you for inspiring my curiosity to investigate ... "ping" :)
