Antivirus Setting Not Saving

Hi, when i enable scan http traffic and close the box, the setting is not saved.

I have read the manuel and i would appear to be following the procedure correctly but the AV sheild and http scanner seems to be the only setting that will not stick???

Comments

  • Well i have reinstalled and tried a repair install but still the settings revert back to default when i try and set a custom setting or change to aggressive.???

  • I have just used the uninstall tool, reinstalled and still the realtime settings revert to default.

It looks like this may be another bitdender (potential) user not hanging around too long.

  • I would assume that this must be a gui problem then as if i go to http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

After enabling realtime default settings, then the scan starts immediately and performs quite quickly.

Then if i enable http scanning, the gui when restarted shows the setting back to default, but the speedtest takes a few seconds to start, and takes much longer to complete..

So i take it that the http scanning is actually saved and working and it is just a gui problem not showing the saved settings once restarted.

  • Hello hawkwind,

To be sure that http traffic is being scanned you must navigate to the windows folder and the following subfoldertemp and you must see httproxy_clt entries.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Niels :)

Yes the httproxy_clt entry is there.

But as you can see from the screenshot, protection level still says default even though i have enabled Http traffic in custom level so i guess there is a problem with the gui.

  • Hello hawkwind,

Can you please perform what is written here. To see if you are using the latest version which is 11.0.16 please right click on the red BitDefender icon that you will find on the task bar press on about. Lets try this press the windows button together with r now type services.msc now look for the BitDefender Communicator service left click on it and press on restart. Try now again to see if your settings are saved now. Try also to load the default settings to do that once you have started BitDefender press on settings once you are in the BitDefender Security Center now press on advanced and next press on restore default settings and press on ok.

When i try and restart the bitdefender Communicator service i get error 1052: the requested control is not valid for this service.

Please find the sysdump and bdfile info log attached.

I have tried to enable http traffic scanner again in custom, but when the gui is restarted again the box has been unchecked.

    /applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1927" data-fileid="1927" rel="">sysdump.tar

  • Hello hawkind,

Try this also when you want to enable scan http traffic be sure that scan http traffic is highlighted before checking the box and pressing on ok to save the changes.Lets try this download the latest BitDefender Internet Security 2008 installer package from here. First exit BitDefender by right clicking on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on exit. Now uninstall BitDefender the normal way I mean by using the default uninstaller. Reboot your pc afterwards. Now run the BitDefender Uninstall tool reboot your pc when asked. Now run the installer package that you just have downloaded. Do you have other user accounts? If so see if the same thing happens there also.

  • Thanks again Niels :)

I`m afraid it is still happening.

I also contacted support but all they advised was how to enable http traffic even though i had explained how i did it ( the same as they suggested) in my email to support.

I am going to uninstall now for the final time.

Thanks for trying to find a solution Niels but it is time for me to give up.

  • Hello hawkwind,

Can you please send me the ticket-id of your support ticket by sending me a pm? So I can contact somebody who has connections so things can be reported to the person who made the module.

    Best regards

    Niels

  • Hi Niels, sorry but i have deleted the email and never made a note of the ticket id.
