Best Firewall Settings?

Hi. Got a new PC with windows 8 so installed the BD windows 8 version and was wondering what are the best firewall settings?
I saw this post: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=39492 and was wondering if it's still relevant. My PC is a little slower with BD 8 on it now so wondering if it's the firewall or just my ISP. Going to run some speed tests as well.
