The Antivirus Keep Updating

why the AV keep updating ...

i look at the resource monitor and here the result :

so does the AV updating ? or doing nothing ?.

dont tell me to reinstall the antivirus since this antivirus doesnt have offline version. it took me hours to install this app.

i remove my old free AV because this AV is using 64x arch so its faster for my OS. but this is make me wondering are the AV working in no internet connection environment?

I may have seen a situation like that in my system... How long has it been like that? If it remains to be the case: Is this while the system has Internet connection?

Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition works fine with no Internet connection. It keeps local signatures and provides other layers of defense (B-Have & Active Virus Control) to keep your system safe. If it displays System is Protected, it means exactly that. However this product may use cloud analysis for some of its decisions and I understand it may not keep as many signatures locally as the paid editions (but it may update every hour)*. That clearly hints: Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition works best when it has Internet access.

*Side note: Lately as I check my logs for new updates while the update number is increasing the signature number seems to be decreasing.

I can't imagine it taking hours to install such a lightweight application. You definitely need to be connected while installing so you get the latest signatures. After that, because the AV uses a lot of cloud based features, it absolutely works much better when there is an internet connection. It seems to check for updates every hour which is a good thing IMO.

I never even notice when the updates are happening or even when the auto scans are going on. They both happen very fast.
