Less Virus Signatures After Each Update

Sorry if this has been mentioned before on this forum, I searched and could not find any related posts. Is it normal that each time Bitdefender updates, I get a lesser number of virus signatures in About page? Shouldn't there be more signatures after each update? I use Total Security 2015. This is kind of strange.

This is normal and the count will probably continue to drop for some time. We're aggressively compacting and eliminating unneeded signatures at the moment.

Keep in mind that this will not affect performance or detection rates, even in disconnected scenarios.
