Google Earth Not Running. Bitdefender To Blame?
Hello all,
This is the sequence of events:
1. Clicked on the GE icon
2. Got a BD announcement box saying "BitDefender will create a firewall for Google Earth", or something along those lines.
3. Got the GE spinning world, but with an error message (forgot the text)
4. GE shut down after clicking OK
5. Retried and got a GE update notice
6. Updated GE software, got the "succesful update" notice.
7. Clicked the GE icon again, and got the spinning sand clock for a second, and then .... nothing.
Actions taken:
1. Reviewed the BD firewall traffic status. GE was allowed.
2. Shut down BD firewall. Still GE didn't run
3. Uninstalled GE and installed it again. Still nothing.
4. Uninstalled BD antivirus software altogether. Still GE didn't run
5. Installed BD again. Still nothing (this time no questions from BD as to allow GE. GE does not appear in the firewall traffic box)
I have no clue as to what can be wrong. Google Earth used to work fine before I installed BD. I'm very suspicious of the announcement box I got when first attempting to connect GE (event 2 listed above).
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip. I followed the steps, now googleearth.exe shows up as "allowed" in the BD traffic box, but still I can't connect to the Google Earth servers. The GE icon looks like a dead path, nothing happens upon clicking on it, no reaction, just the sand clock for a second and then nothing. I'm now suspecting that BD has nothing to do with the problem. Please follow these steps !(screenshots)0 -
Not the firewall allows GE to connect to he internet !
Try to reinstall GE0
