Cannot Install Bd Internet Security 2015 (trial)
A desktop PC, running Win 7 Home Premium, around 2 years old. Came with Kaspersky trial version pre-installed, that I removed at the time, and only used MS Firewall ever since.
Now I would like to give the above a trial to see if I like it before I take my wallet out...
I downloaded the trial version, disabled MS firewall (just in case) and attempted to install it, but it complained that Kaspesky is still there....
I used CCleaner to clean the registry, and also manually remove all entries on the hard drive that refer to Kaspersky (several folders/files were still there for some reason, but no excecutables). I did this with all hidden folders/files visible. I even manually removed several entries that refer to Kaspersky from the registry that were still there after all the above.
I booted the machine and tried again, but Bitdefender IS 2015 is still complaining and would not let me install... :-(
Any advice as to how to proceed?
many thanks in advance.

Hiya,
Run the Kaspersky removal tool then reboot, there may still be something left on your computer, then try again.

Oops! You are correct of course... I forgot to mention that I did that as well (at the suggestion of a few on Google)...
I couldn't work out which was the version of Kaspersky that had originally been installed, so I had to run it 6 times in total (inc a boot after each) to make sure that I covered all potential variations...
Unfortunately it did not fix the problem.
Any more thoughts please?0 -
OK, I have had no problems with uninstalling KS but two further suggestions.
Run the offline installer from here - http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=54672 If it installs you can just continue on with the 30 day trial.
If you still can't install, re-install Kaspersky Internet Security (that is the version that comes with new computers as far as I know), then run the KIS uninstall tool ( 5th on the list I linked). Try again.0 -

Done. No change (i.e. complaining about Kaspersky still present). If you still can't install, re-install Kaspersky Internet Security (that is the version that comes with new computers as far as I know), then run the KIS uninstall tool ( 5th on the list I linked). Try again.
Also done. Still no change...
Another thing I tried, as suggested here http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...mp;hl=kaspersky, is to do all the cleaning whilst in Safe Mode as well. Still no change.
Only thing I noticed is that the BitDefender Uninstaller fails when "trying to execute external Tools" (or similar), and simply cycles through the process indefinitely. This has been reported widely on Google with no solution.
Since The Bitdefender development team obviously know what it is on the HDD and/or Registry that they are not happy with during the installation process, it would be nice if they share this information with the general public so that they can address it and continue with the installation...0 -
I hate that this is now incorporated in DB " />
it did the same thing for me on my new W8 PC with MBAM, had to uninstall then reinstall I hope that is eliminated in future updates.0 -

Thank you!
I submitted a ticket a few days ago, and on Friday received a *.reg file from them that removed all left-over references from the Registry that BD was not happy with.
I then managed to install the trial version without a problem.
Thanks again.0 -
