Bd Icon Trouble

My BD icon will not load at start-up in the system tray. The Icon use to load correctly, and the proper button in BD is selected to display this icon. I'm using bitdefender Anti-virus 2008, with Windows Pro XP, SP3. Would someone provide insight to help solve this problem?

I think I found the problem...My BD Threat Scanner is set to Manual, and it won't let me switch it to Automatic.

I get an "Access is denied." error message. How do I change the startup type from manual to automatic?

I pressed the windows button together with r, then typed services.msc, and enter. Next I double clicked on the SSDP Discovery Service in the startup type drop down menu, and selected disable instead of "Automatic", finally I selected apply.
