Is This Updating Behavior Something To Worry About?

I have Bitdefender Free 10 OEM and WIndows XP Pro.

I noticed a departure from normal updating behavior with my most recent updates. After the first update had been received and installed, my software began again to download a new update... which it also installed. I understand that sometimes a major update of software seems to require this sort of action, but I have also witnessed this behavior with anti-virus programs when they have been compromised.

Should I be concerned about this?

Hello Binky,

The second update check occurs when the first attempt fails. It's nothing to worry about, and it's completely normal.

The first update might fail due to several reasons:

- unstable internet connection (which leads to packet corruption, therefore downloaded updates are invalid)

- unsynchronized update servers (BD tried to download non-existing files on the server...this appears when new updates are uploaded on the server)

- some other reasons which don't really cross my mind right now.

Bottom line: nothing to worry about.
