Strange Issues...

Options

First here's some info:

Windows Vista Home Basic

BitDefender Total Security 2008

Yeah...

Short and simple, my computer keeps giving me a bubble down in the sys tray saying that my anti virus has been turned off and click this bubble to fix it... I haven't even touched it... I don't like it when my anti virus decides to shut down by itself...

Who exactly tells you that BD is disabled? BitDefender itself, or Windows? Because Windows might wrongly detect the real status of BitDefender.

Also, there might be a short period at system startup, before BD initializes, when Windows alerts you that BD is disabled, but after a few seconds BD notifies Windows that everything is up and running and the alert goes away.

Windows is telling me that. And it's not just once. It will do it multiple times over and over. Throughout the day, I'd say once every 7 to 10 minutes. I'll reply another post with a Hijackthis report.

Check and press Fix checked for:

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Launcher] %WINDIR%\SMINST\launcher.exe

    Download ComboFix from here: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Then close all running programs, including web browser, instant messenger, etc and then run ComboFix.

It will ask you whether it should start cleaning or not. Press 1 and hit Enter. Don't stop it while running. While doing this your screen may disappear but don't worry, it's a normal behaviour.

At the end ComboFix will generate a log file. Save it and post it here.

Oh and I can't use internet any more. The only reason I'm getting to reply to this is: I left the internet open on accident while running ComboFix. And just left it open. I replied on the web page, and then I tried to go somewhere else and it says web page not found.... So I clicked back a couple times and here I am again, and it's letting me reply again...

Edit: I just restarted my laptop and it's fixed now. But the restart took unusually long... I hope that ComboFix didn't mess anything up. And here's a screen shot of the original problem.

Is that a different antivirus program? Umm, if so, that totally defeats the purpose of BitDefender.

Did I miss something? He said his using "BitDefender Total Security 2008" which includes an antispyware solution! Or does it detect viruses only?
