This Is A Virus Right?

Hey Guys you helped me when I had a problem ;)

But now sister has downloaded a beauty of a virus (I think)

Windows XP Home starts up with the welcome and her name click to log in an it says loading your personal settings, then it shows the desktop with no icons for a bit then shuts the desktop and her name comes back on the screen and then logs her out..

It won't let me start it in safe mode, it will let you select safe mode then it just takes you to log in, the same for last known good settings and I tried to boot to the windows disk after going in to the bios to change to boot to cd rom 1st and it gives you the option to install windows or Repair so R it is and it asks which version of windows to repair and comes up with 1:F:\WINDOWS_ makes no change what you enter..

HELP.. thanks Mark

Did you try to log in on Administrator account in Safe Mode and run a scan ?!

  • Hello mag,

Try this keep the shift button pressed during the startup process this will prevent processes to start-up. You need to do that after the BIOS screen.

See if you now can get into the user account. Press windows button together with r now type msconfig press enter and select diagnostic start-up.

    Kind regards,

    Niels
