Urgently Needed Help. My Bd Av 2008 Will Not Scan Further Beyond Here.

OK, I got some serious problem. My BitDefender will stop scanning at C:\System Volume Information\MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase.

Operating System: Windows XP Pro with SP3

Firewall: Latest Zone Alarm Security Suit (I already set the program controls to trust all BD programs).

Anti-Spyware: Latest Spybot Search and Destroy with resident protection disabled during scanning.

Hardware? Uh I tried on all my different computers and it still won't work. But the software configuration is almost identical anyway.

I had the same problem with another file, I just had to let it hang there for awhile

have you also tried adding that file etc to ure exceptions list in settings?

Thx linkage, I've read you link but it doesn't seems to be related to my problem though.

OK, I've tried transferring my desktop HDD onto an enclosure and my laptop scans it just fine with the BitDefender Wizard Agent added to ZoneAlarm but I still have no luck with my desktop. Actually when my laptop scans it, there is no virus there or whatsoever but this really bugs me when I want to scan my whole system.

:unsure: If my BitDefender expires and I'm still having the same problem, I'll probably have no choice to use another vendors Anti-Virus.

My desktop specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6, Sapphire ATI HD 2900XT, 4GB Ballistix Tracers PC6400, 320GB Seagate HDD, Asustek Lightscribe DRW-1814BLT(SATA), Sony Floppy Drive, SilverStone Olyumpia OP750, SilverStone TJ-09, Samsung SyncMaster 226BW.

Software configuration have been mentioned above.

Hello MTLance,

Please reboot your pc into safe mode. To do that just reboot your computer keep pressing the F8 button before teh windows splash screen select safe mode. Log in with your account click on start,all programs,BitDefender 2008,BitDefender manual scan and try to scan there. See if you know can get past the system restore point.

OK, I finally solved the problem with the help from another forum. The problem detected with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware showed that there are serious trojans in my System Volume Information folder. And thanks to Malwarebytes removing it, now I think I'm getting Ad-Aware 2008 Pro to secure up my PC again since the AV is for Viruses only and not for trojans. And if Ad-Aware fails I can always happy to buy Malwarebytes products.

*sigh I wonder how much protection can a BitDefender Anti-Virus can do these days.

How can I or somebody else help you further if you don't reply in your topic? I answered your topic the same day and you didn't repsond.So long you don't restore the system restore points nothing can happen.

Other antiviruses doesn't have access either to the system volume restore folder. The only way how malware bytes could succeed is by rebooting your computer and deleting the restore points afterwards. If you took a look at the malware section there is also explained how to deal with the system restore points.

Sorry about not replying for a week, because I got something else that time too means dealing with unable to copy and paste a file/folder. Yeah thanks to Malwarebytes that the other forum moderator recommended me and the system is better than ever. Although I don't know why the Malwarebytes left out the VirtualMode except luckily my Ad-Aware 08 Pro was able to pick that up.

Oh well I can't see any AV that is as good as BD for now so I'll stick to BD. At least it is easier to use than Kapersky.
