Having problems running v10.2 on Vista (32bit)
I'm very frustrated. I have been using Bitdefender v 10.0 on 2 of our work machines with XP and I have been very happy with it. I have converted those machines over to Vista (with a clean install on second partition) and have been having nothing but problems with Bitdefender v10.2. On my work desktop I had issues opening up Outlook 2007 when I had Bitdefender enabled. Outlook crashed and in some instances corrupted my pst file. I had scan accessed files off. When I disabled and close Bitdefender problem went away. On several instances I got blue screen crashes in Vista. I uninstall Bitdefender and problems go away...
On my work notebook I also have problems but not as extreme. Bitdefender crashes ever so often.
Clearly Bitdefender 10.2 in not "Vista Ready". Isn't there anyone else out with Vista having issues? Is there a beta version of a newer version that I can try? I just have Bitdefender Antivirus (not plus or internet security). I have tried some other virus software trials that appear to work fine for me with Vista but I would like to stick with Bitdefender...

I am having similar problems. When installing BitDefender Internet Security v10.2 on my Vista Ultimate system, when I get to the point the wizard try to update, it takes long time and then gives me "update error". I contacted the support team and told me it must be a connection problem. I did every thing they told me but no luck. I too think that the product is not Vista compatible yet !!
I would really appreciate it if anybody have any suggestion.0 -
I also get the download error.
I installed again this afternoon to give it another go and I just had Outlook 2007 crash on me again and it said it was related to sockspy.dll (a Bitdefender file). One more blue screen as well.
I'm unstalling again until they sort this out. It really bothers me when companies promote a product as compatible with an OS when clearly it is not...0 -
Hi Mike
Try what I said in this topic I made about how to reduce the cpu usage of bdss.exe : http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=36

Hi twister
This is normally the latest build : http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...nder_av_v10.exe
I don't use vista myself.
Try to disable sockspy by doing this go to start, run,at the run dialog box type devmgmt.msc press enter then go to view and select show hidden devices. Normally you will find sockspy righclick on it and choose for disable.

Hi mr2driver
Did you tried what I said in my previous post by going to the device manager? I can't verify it because I use BitDefender Antivirus Plus. BD stores hidden devices in the device manager.

no. i cant find it in the device manager. under "No-PNP-Driver" i find only bdfdll.dll, bdrsdrv.dll and bdpredir.dll
but i rename sockspy.dll to sockspy.d_ and now it runs.0 -
Hi mr2driver
I couldn't verify it because I am not using internet security. Glad to hear that you find a solution

I only use Bitdefender Antivirus. Not the Security.

I have no problems with sockspy. But I am still using windows xp home. Mayby it must be a conflict with vista. You can try to let it run in comptability mode by pressing with your right mousebutton and select windows xp. I don't know if it will work. If that also fails then I can't help you any further.0 -
thanks. but i have xp pro sp2 on my second pc and it works fine. its only a confict with vista. but with rename sockspy.dll to sockspy.d_ it works good with vista.

Sorry but there are some bugs that don't replicate on all Vista computers and that will be ironed-out ASAP. Our engineers are working on them and there will be an update to correct this problem with vista.

Did you also tried the comptability mode? I suppose but I repeat it because it wasn't clear that you tried it.
That was gladly done.0 -
Does anyone know the time frame on the Bitdefender having a Vista compatible version out? I really like Bitdefender but I need to move on this soon. I'm running a trial of a competitors product (which runs great on Vista I might add) and I will need to make a decision soon.
Bitdefender should clearly have had this sorted out by now. This is not an uncommon problem, I have 2 different machines, each with completely different hardware (desktop with Athlon 64 X2 and notebook with Core 2 Duo) that are both having problems. Vista has been out for over 2 months and release canidates have been out for a lot longer. Is there any official response specifically stating when a fix will be available?
I e-mailed support about this issue and I never got a response. This is pretty important, Vista is a new OS coming pre-installed on all new machines and Bitdefender has "Vista Ready" splashed all over their web site.0 -
Hi Twister
Did you also tried downloading the latest build? For link see my previous post. If that fails then I can't help you any further. To which address have you sended your e-mail? If it's to support@bitdefender.com that is their worldwide support address. I suggest that you take a look at the contactinformation when you open BitDefender. It could be that there is specific address for your country.

Yes, I did try the latest build. Still not fixed.
I sent e-mail to support@bitdefender.com this is the address listed in "technical support" in the "about" tab in my Bitdefender.
Thanks for your help.0 -
Then it can take sometimes a few weeks before you get a reply. I don't know but you can try to pm someone of BitDefender that is active on this forum. Mayby then you will get an answer more quickly.
That was gladly done. Sorry that I can't help you any further.0 -
I have the same troubles under vista with that sockspy.dll, it crashes very often ( 3 to 5 times a day ).
I installed the lastest build, not fixed.0
