Bitdefender On Cloned Xp System
Bitdefender runs fine on the original system. But when that system is cloned onto a second PC (cloned using PING) bitdefender crashes every time you try to use the UI. The UI does display, but as soon as the window closes bitdefender gives an error box and closes. This is using the 2014 free edition (1.0.21.1109). Is there something I need to change on the second PC?

Hello Gleng81,
Since the two machines are not identical drivers may not function properly and lead to crashes.
Might I suggest uninstalling the product, running a clean sweep with CClean and then reinstalling

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion, but driver-wise the machines are identical - same motherboard, no additional cards. The only differences are 1GB vs 2GB of memory (cloned machine has 2GB) and the machine with the problem has a larger 2nd hard drive. The main hard drives are the same size and partitioned identically. And since the machines are clones, they have identical software installed. Having to uninstall, clean, and reinstall kind of defeats the purpose of cloning a machine. But I will give it a try.

Just an update. Turns out the cloning process, for reasons I haven't yet determined, was renaming one of the hard drives. It was the drive with TEMP on it. So that is what I suspect was killing Bitdefender. Once I fixed the drive lettering, it is working fine. Thanks for the suggestions.
